WhatsApp is working on allowing users to link their account on another smartphone – Phandroid
Some of us carry multiple phones for various reasons. Syncing your mail and some instant messengers across multiple devices isn’t usually a problem, but it’s a feature that WhatsApp lacks because your account is tied to your phone number.
The good news is that, according to WABetaInfo, it looks like WhatsApp is working on enabling this. The report claims that in the latest WhatsApp beta, the company is testing a new feature that allows users to link another mobile device to their WhatsApp account. This means that users will be able to use their main WhatsApp account on multiple devices.
Messages from the original device can be synced to the secondary device, which means the chat history can be copied to all devices. At the moment, WhatsApp already allows multiple devices like your smartphone and computer, but not smartphone-to-smartphone, so it might be useful for users who have multiple mobile devices.
We don’t know if the chat history sync can be done on all platforms like iOS to Android and vice versa and if this chat history can then be synced back to the original device. WhatsApp recently extended its native chat history migration to more beta users, so this might be a possible feature.
Either way, it looks like the feature is still in its early stages, so it could be a while before we see it roll out to the public.
