If you thought the Android smartphone market was already crowded, prepare for an even tougher choice in the future.

The OnePlus co-founder now has big plans to shake up the market this year with the launch of a new smartphone which is simply called Phone (1).
Here’s a summary of everything we know so far.
Full details on this device remain fairly scarce at the moment, but the firm has just announced which UK network will stock it – 02, by the way – and it suggests a launch is imminent.
“When we launched Nothing, we wanted to bring back the enthusiasm we once felt for the tech industry,” Pei said.
Nothing will also be sold to customers directly on its website. Fans hope that the price of the new smartphone will be as competitive as that of the headphones (1).
While the Nothing phone’s hardware remains under wraps, the company has revealed what its version of Android will look like, with users getting a bespoke look with striking black wallpapers and a digital-style font.
Android fans can install it on their current devices using Nothing Launcher in Play Store.
The Nothing OS also offers Max Icons and Max Folders, both of which are new experiences for Android.
This allows users to hold and tap to expand app folders or individual apps, so the items you use most are more visible.
There are also bespoke Clock and Weather widgets, as well as the ability to customize the home screen with Nothing wallpapers and associated color scheme.
Tech entrepreneur Carl Pei originally co-founded the hugely successful OnePlus brand.
Pei aims to replicate that success and getting a major UK mobile network on board will be a big boost to Nothing’s brand visibility.
Expect more news on this exciting new smartphone in the weeks and months to come with a full launch date expected this summer.
