Committed to many years of success to come: Punit Goenka on Zee’s 29th birthday
Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) Managing Director and CEO Punit Goenka said on Saturday that the company is set for many more years of success following his 29th birthday.
In a message to company employees, Goenka said: “29 years ago, on that day, we put pen to paper and laid the foundations for this extraordinary institution and an Academy of Talents, which we called ZEE. Back then, many people thought it was a bold and impossible idea, but the power of passion and persistence paid off and here we are today, celebrating this glorious milestone! “
This dream, built and nurtured over nearly three decades, has grown into a global enterprise with synergistic efforts and actions. The culture of constant value creation and sustained growth was embedded in this journey, he said.

“As we enter the 30th year of the business together, we remain committed to many years of success ahead filled with fame, growth and profitability,” said Goenka.
“This trip has also had its fair share of challenges. My mantra in these situations has always been to look at the silver lining instead of the dark ground, or to put it simply, consistently focus on your job and believe that every difficult phase has to. certainly pass, ”said Goenka, who faces a new challenge from Invesco, an investor in the company.
Earlier today, ZEEL filed a civil complaint with the Bombay High Court to consider the Invesco Developing Markets Fund and OFI Global China Fund LLC’s request for an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) to be “illegal. and invalid “.
The American company Invesco had filed a petition calling for the convening of the EGM, the dismissal of Goenka and two other directors and the reconstitution of the board of directors with the appointment of six new directors.

As if to tackle the latest challenge he faces, Goenka said, “In fact, these ups and downs have been extremely important in building our resilience, allowing us to remain committed to the growth and profitability of the business.”
Regarding ZEEL’s planned merger with Sony India, Goenka said the best is yet to come as the merger will make ZEEL the country’s largest media and entertainment company. “I am extremely confident that with Sony as a partner in our value creation journey, the combined synergies will help us strengthen our capabilities to create more accurate content that enriches the lives of our consumers.”
Last month, ZEEL’s board of directors agreed in principle to a merger with Sony Pictures Network India (SPNI).
“Being challenged in life is inevitable, but being defeated is optional. The choice will always be yours and yours alone,” Goenka told company employees.
