CEDIA 2021 bleeds exhibitors as Sonos, Sony and Sound United

When Learned announced last week that he would not be attending CEDIA 2021 in person, we started to get nervous. The latest information is not much better with the news that some of the biggest names in home theater, home audio and home integration have also announced that they will not be participating either.

Many brands will be hosting new product events online, but this latest list of companies that are no longer participating due to the increase in cases caused by the Delta variant is quite large.

Sony, Sonos, Sound United (Polk Audio, Denon, Marantz, Bowers & Wilkins), Samsung, Snap One, RTI, AudioQuest / GoldenEar, Wisdom Audio, Legrand, Fortress Seating, Salamander and Panamax.

There are unconfirmed rumors that Harman Deluxe Audio Package have pulled out, but we don’t know for sure and until we hear the opposite from the company – they’re still around.

We reached out to Samsung and they confirmed with the following statement:

“The health and safety of our employees and the public is our top priority. Due to the recent increase in infection rates, we have made the difficult decision to no longer exhibit in person at this year’s CEDIA show. We look forward to connecting directly with our industry partners in the coming weeks to share our latest products and programs for the channel. ”

We also contacted Sony and received the following response:

“Sony Electronics is closely monitoring the development of the COVID-19 Delta variant situation. Due to the unprecedented and unexpected circumstances, we have made the difficult decision not to attend this year’s CEDIA event in person. This includes our participation in the show as well as any Sony sponsored events scheduled in conjunction with the show.

As the world continues to fight the pandemic and businesses embrace digital alternatives and online opportunities to prevent the spread of the virus, Sony Electronics will continue to communicate with our customers and partners in a way that allows us to stream safely. exciting product news and updates. a larger audience and our larger Sony community. With this in mind, we will be broadcasting our “Sony CEDIA Live! event from our head office in San Diego. We look forward to sharing information about our latest premium products. Look for an invitation this week.

We will continue to monitor the situation and look forward to attending in-person industry events at some point in the future.

We plan to continue offering extended coverage from CEDIA 2021, but it’s clear that some of the biggest companies in the industry have already made the rather painful decision to stay home for another year and make all their announcements through other channels.

With AXPONA and RMAF on the horizon, let’s pray that the cases start to go down or that the fourth quarter is again pretty calm when it comes to industry trade events.
