Google really seems to want iPhone users to switch from Apple smartphones to Android smartphones; and has therefore updated its iOS application “Switch to Android”. It now supports all Android 12 devices, whereas before it only worked with Pixels.

The “Switch to Android” application that Google has been working on for several months has now got a major update this should make it easier for iPhone users to transfer their data to any smartphone with Android 12.

Indeed, the free iOS application that was available a few weeks ago was so far only compatible with Pixel smartphones; but a new update now makes it compatible with all smartphones running on Google’s latest operating system. For iPhone users who are planning to switch to Android, the possibility of a smoother migration to the green robot operating system is now available.

As before, the app can transfer data from iPhone to your new Android phone. The process shouldn’t be difficult and almost all the best apps you love on iPhone will also be available on Android, but it should be noted that many games on iOS are unfortunately not available on the Google Play Store.

You can now easily transfer data from iPhone to Android 12 smartphones

Simply connect your iPhone to your new Android smartphone with a Lightning cable or use the Switch to Android wireless option. The app will then ask you to connect the Android device you are migrating to; using the camera to scan a QR code. If not available, there is also a connection option; directly on a device using a WiFi Direct network name and password.

Either way, the app downloads just about any information it can find on your iPhone. This includes contacts, calendar events, photos, videos, or even your data stored in iCloud. The app also helps you by giving you tips for getting acclimated to the new operating system; and shows you how to disable iMessage before switching ecosystems because iMessage is not available on Android.

Think twice before trading in your old smartphone or tablet — you could make more money by “upcycling” on resale sites https://sony-cp.com/think-twice-before-trading-in-your-old-smartphone-or-tablet-you-could-make-more-money-by-upcycling-on-resale-sites/ Sat, 25 Jun 2022 14:06:00 +0000 https://sony-cp.com/think-twice-before-trading-in-your-old-smartphone-or-tablet-you-could-make-more-money-by-upcycling-on-resale-sites/ When it comes to old personal tech lying around the house — from smartphones to tablets to game consoles — many people may not realize just how much value their devices still have. When it comes to old personal tech lying around the house — from smartphones to tablets to game consoles — many people may not realize just how much value their devices still have.

Keeping tech out of landfills or just gathering dust in the back of the closet by exploring resale websites that connect buyers with used tech sellers can bring in a few extra bucks. As for potential buyers, resale can make a lot of sense for young family members old enough for their first phone, but at risk of misplacing it. Resale can also be rewarding – introducing lower-cost access to technology and gaming fun for families who are particularly feeling the pinch of high gas and food prices.

The good news is that tech companies are finally making it easier to extend the life of older devices.

How to Access Resale Sites for Phones, Laptops, and Other Tech

Sell on sites like Swappa.com and its competitors can earn you more money for items you no longer use like Phone(s)laptops, smartwatches, gaming systems, home technology and tablets.

You should compare resale markets to the many exchange and buyback programs where you can sell your used iPhone and other tech. Of course, not all trade-in sites are created equal, and reselling can be more seamless.

The advantages of reselling your second-hand technological devices

“Consumers who choose in-store operator trade-in programs typically get in-store credit and typically less value, while those who choose buy-back services receive below-market offers so devices can be resold by companies themselves,” said Ben Edwards, CEO of Swappa. com.

Plus, buyers can find better prices and variety on resale sites than always buying new.

It is important to note that the resale and purchase of slightly used technology, and essentially all measures aimed at extending its lifespan, finally have stronger support from manufacturers.

MicrosoftMSFT,
+3.41%
released earlier this year the results of an independent study who backed what right-to-repair and environmental advocates pushed: Repairing appliances instead of replacing or reselling old appliances reduces waste and greenhouse gas emissions associated with manufacturing new devices.

In response, Microsoft will relax its restrictions on repairing old technology, a move that came shortly after Apple’s AAPL.
+2.45%
“Self-service repair”, a first-of-its-kind program that allows owners of recent iPhone models to order genuine Apple parts and tools to perform basic smartphone repairs, such as screen and battery replacement.

Samsung and Google
GOOGL,
+5.11%
said they would also partner with the repair guide site I fix it.

And the environmental benefit…

By one measure, electronic waste, or e-waste, is the fastest growing waste problem in the world. We produce about 50 million tons of it every year, although it’s both personal and enterprise technologies.

Yet that’s the equivalent of throwing away 1,000 laptops every second.

The cost and savings of reselling used technology

With an exchange through a carrier or redemption site, you typically lose value by up to 50%, said Edwards of Swappa. Sellers often give their device to the carrier or retailer because it’s convenient and they feel the pressure on the spot to unload the item.

Bidding on a secondary market site generally means greater product price transparency for buyers and sellers.

Buyback programs can sometimes hide shipping and other charges. Resale site Swappa, for example, charges a 3% fee to both buyer and seller, which it makes clear when you browse through their offers. Always inquire about fees before purchase.

Consider a resale site that acts as a reliability gatekeeper: no broken screens; ready to be activated, for example. And make sure the site requires proof of ownership and doesn’t sell lost or stolen items. It can also save hassle and money.

Be aware of…

The incentive to save on a new device can be linked to a trade-in. Of course, the carriers want you to come back, so if you can negotiate a bigger incentive than expected, it’s worth shopping around.

Warranties are sometimes transferred to new owners, but that’s on a case-by-case basis, so it’s wise to ask before buying in secondary markets.

That said, if upcycling is part of your motivation, you might feel even better knowing that your old technology is guaranteed a new life, at least for a little while.

Editor’s Note: This article launches our recurring The Upcycle column, intended to help you do more with less, save or earn extra money, develop your creative side and reduce your carbon footprint.

Upcycling involves reusing objects for practical or aesthetic purposes, prolonging their usefulness and diverting them from a dump. Additionally, the column will explore the benefits of fixing or upgrading more of what we already have, including technology and personal devices; exploit free or deeply discounted goods and services that may be life-changing; and travel in less expensive, intrusive and consuming ways.

We will sometimes talk about spending smarter as much as consuming less. And for anyone ready for a complete lifestyle downsizing, we’ll dive into the expansion No buying movement. After all, if we can “recycle” more of our time, income, and peace of mind, everything might feel brand new.

Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been ordered by the Nigerian Police to report himself on a viral video.
Tide’s source reveals that Portable was seen in a viral video accusing a young man of texting his ‘wife’, asking her to advise him to stay away from his friends as they had no fame.
In the video, crooner ZaZu Zeh asks the young man to name his friends whom he accuses of having no glory.
Without allowing his victim to say a word, the singer asked his boys to beat the helpless guy.
As they pounced on the victim, Portable was heard in the Yoruba language, saying “e luu pa”, meaning “beat him to death”.
Reacting, the Portable was told to report to Ogun State Command as the incident had happened somewhere in the state.
Ogun State Police Spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi, while calling the act unseemly and barbaric, called on the singer to surrender or be declared wanted.
“The attention of the Ogun State Police Command has come to a video clip circulating on social media, where a popular hip-hop musician, Habeeb Okikiola (aka Portable, Zazu’s crooner), was seen organizing youths to beat a young man and inflict bodily harm on him.The incident is believed to have taken place somewhere in Ogun state about two days ago.
“Such unruly and violent behavior is not only barbaric, but befitting of someone who is meant to be a role model for young people and therefore should not be tolerated.
“In view of this, the command is using this medium to advise Okikiola Habeeb alias Portable to report to the nearest police station in Ogun State, failing which his arrest will be ordered.
“Portable’s blatant display of impunity in the viral video is condemnable and if left unchecked will send the wrong signal to young people who look up to him as a role model.
“Jungle justice has no place in our laws and anyone who engages in it must be made to feel the weight of the law, regardless of that person’s status,” Oyeyemi said. statement on Monday.

Teen Photographer Captures Incredible Photo Of The Moon With His Phone https://sony-cp.com/teen-photographer-captures-incredible-photo-of-the-moon-with-his-phone/ Tue, 21 Jun 2022 15:33:05 +0000 https://sony-cp.com/teen-photographer-captures-incredible-photo-of-the-moon-with-his-phone/ 18 years old Vijay Suddala created a stunning composite image of the moon from his home in southern India with just a $150 telescope and his smartphone. 18 years old Vijay Suddala created a stunning composite image of the moon from his home in southern India with just a $150 telescope and his smartphone.

The teenager used a Orion Skyscanner 100mm telescopea Svbony Barlow lens, a 10mm eyepiece and a smartphone adapter with its Samsung Galaxy M21 to capture the celestial image.

Moon photographed with a smartphone

Talk to PetaPixelSuddala explains step by step how he created his impressive HDR image using four images.

“Align your telescope with the smartphone camera lens using a smartphone adapter. You will see a perfect circle on the smartphone camera view and you can use a distant object to check your focus,” says Suddala.

“Point at the moon and take pictures making sure it’s not overexposed. You can use the ProCam X mobile app to change your phone’s ISO and shutter speed. Find the setting that best suits your smartphone. »

Orion Skyscanner 100mm telescope

Telescope plus equipment

Suddala then captures the upper, middle and lower parts of the moon to make the whole image sharp and leaves a common area between all the moon shots. Finally, it captures an overexposed photo of the moon.

“Once you get three or five unique shots of different parts of the moon, you put them into software called ‘Microsoft ICE.’ What it does is stitch them together based on common areas and get a full picture of the moon,” says Suddala.

“I enter the point in photoshop and the first thing I do is apply auto color, 8x noise reduction, unsharp mask until you feel the sharpness is good enough or nice . You can adjust the black areas of the moon with the curves adjustment.

Barlow lens with eyepiece attached

The smartphone astrophotographer then adds another image of a full moon for the HDR look using guides in Photoshop to align the two images.

“Use the elliptical marquee tool to slice the moon into a perfect circle. You can remove bad edges with chromatic aberration by applying a Gaussian blur,” adds Suddala.

“You need to line up the overexposed photo of the moon layer perfectly with the photo of the layer above. This will give a nice glow to the moon,” he continues.

“For the clouds, I capture them in daylight and convert them to black and white by removing the saturation. Then I load the Moon layer with the black and white glow and clouds into Photoshop and change the blending mode to “lighten”. That’s it.”

Anyone can do it

Suddala, who does all of her astrophotography work on a smartphone, believes anyone can take exceptional images of the moon even on a budget, and credits YouTuber Alyn Wallace for learning the technique.

“I had a pair of binoculars when I was a kid that I bought in a store. I used to look at the moon and I also used them for earth observation.

“When I was 12, I bought a Celestron 50mm telescope and saw Saturn’s rings for the first time with it. I also used it for lunar observation, but got tired of it after about a year because the views weren’t so nice.

“Later, when I was 15, I bought the Orion Skyscanner 100mm tabletop reflector telescope. It’s the same telescope I used to make the composite.

More of Suddala’s work can be seen on his instagram.

In today’s industry roundup: Turin is surrounded by smart factory applications; Google Cloud partners with TIM for a new “region”; multiple factors are leading to a major contraction of the European smartphone market during the first quarter of 2022; And much more !

Telecom Italy (TIM) teamed up with Ericsson and specialist in advanced industrial automation products and systemsComau to develop smart factory applications using network slicing capabilities enabled by a 5G network set up by the operator and supplier at Comau’s headquarters near Turin. Applications developed to date cover: Real-time tracking of a robot to create a digital twin; real-time monitoring of industrial assets for predictive maintenance purposes; and immersive telepresence to enable offsite remote support. To find out more, see this ad TIM.

Always with TIM… The Italian national operator has partnered with Google Cloud to allow the opening of the new “region” of the hyperscaler’s data center (dubbed Western Europe8) in the Milan area. The new deployment, built in collaboration with TIM, is the first of two regions opening in Italy, with the second set to launch in the Turin region over the next few months. “We believe the new Milan and Turin cloud regions will have a positive impact for years to come,” Google Cloud noted in this advert. “A recent independent report on the economic impact carried out by the University of Turin highlights that the two regions could potentially generate up to 3.3 billion euros and support up to 65,000 new jobs in Piedmont and Lombardy by 2025,” he added.

According to the latest data from Search for counterpoint. Many factors led to the decline, including ongoing component shortages, lockdowns in China due to the Covid-19 pandemic, deteriorating economic landscape, and the Russian-Ukrainian war. Rising inflation levels in the region and Samsung and Apple’s decision to halt shipments to Russia also had some impact, according to the analytics firm. Furthermore, “the impact of the war may develop wider ramifications if it leads to lower availability of raw materials, higher prices, additional inflationary pressure and/or the withdrawal of other suppliers from Russia” , noted the associate director of Counterpoint Research, Jan Stryjak. Looking ahead, the company expects the smartphone shipment market to get worse before it gets better and expects annual shipment growth to continue to decline in the coming quarters. See more.

T-Mobile United States shook things up again with the announcement of Coverage Beyond, which offers its mobile customers “free high-speed data in over 210 countries and destinations AND free in-flight connectivity and in-flight streaming on the largest American airlines”. The operator boasts: “Starting June 21, when they land in a foreign country, T-Mobile customers will receive 5GB of free high-speed data each month, up to 5G speeds if available, in more from 210 countries and destinations on T-Mobile’s most popular plan, Magenta MAX, and on the Business Unlimited Ultimate plan.No passes to buy.No hoops to jump.No BS. “Intelligence from Mordor”

Delayed availability of new handsets due to supply chain constraints and lower available cash due to the pandemic has pushed local demand for refurbished smartphones to new milestones. According to the CEO of Yantraa, refurbished smartphones in the price bracket of INR 4,000 to INR 6,000 were sold out in less than 30 minutes, suggesting the growing demand for second-hand phones in the market.

Overview of the used and refurbished smartphone market

Global Used and Refurbished Smartphone Market was valued at 251.09 Million Units in 2021, and it is projected to reach 459.86 Million Units by 2027, registering a CAGR of 10.23% between 2022 and 2027. Multiple product launches in the high-end smartphone segment, more brand options, new pricing and the overall ambitious value of an upgraded smartphone are some of the important factors that are rapidly pushing the used smartphone industry to grow its market in several geographies globally. An increase in the upgrade cost has been one of the major reasons for the growth of the market. An increase in the prices of high-end smartphones has led many consumers to keep their phones much longer than expected. However, at the same time, this factor has also increased the average selling price of a used device.
